PatchPal ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the PatchPal for Android mobile application ("App").

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Child's name: For personalization within the app
Caretaker's name and relationship: To identify and customize the app interface
Eye information: Which eye is patched or tracked
Patching session data: Start times, pause times, duration, tags, and progress tracking
Visual acuity records: Optional eye test measurements and notes
Rewards and achievements: Stars earned, rewards unlocked, and milestone progress
Feedback messages: When you contact us through the app

Device Information

Android ID: Used solely for multi-device timer synchronization to prevent duplicate updates. Not shared with third parties.

3. How We Use Your Information

To track and display patching progress
To sync data across family devices via Google Firebase (optional)
To provide rewards, achievements, and motivational features
To enable family sharing functionality
To send local notifications (reminders and timer alerts)
To respond to feedback submitted through the app

4. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. If you enable Cloud Sync, data is also stored securely in Google Firebase Cloud Firestore, keyed to your unique profile code. All data transmitted to Firebase is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.

5. Third-Party Services

PatchPal uses Google Firebase Cloud Firestore for optional cloud synchronization. Firebase data is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. PatchPal does not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking services.

6. Data Sharing

Your data is only shared with family members you explicitly invite using a 6-character profile code. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

7. Children's Privacy

PatchPal is designed for children under parental supervision. We comply with COPPA requirements. All data collection is done with parental consent and oversight. We collect only minimal data necessary for app functionality, do not use data for advertising, and do not share children's data with third parties.

8. Your Rights

Access: View all data stored in the app at any time
Export: Export your data via Settings
Delete: Use "Reset Account" in Settings to delete all data
Opt-Out: Disable Cloud Sync or uninstall the app at any time
